Events

We want to offer those 2006 adolescents who are to be integrated in the UNESCO World Youth Festival an eventful entertainment programme with sport, culture and leisure activities that will be organised at local and central level.

Local activities

Selected municipalities in the region of Stuttgart, sports circles or clubs will arrange a varied exchange programme with the young people accommodated in their community. These activities are preferably matched to each other so that everybody can enjoy similar activities during his or her stay.

Contents of the local get-together programme will be:

Welcome by the communities of the region (official welcome in the town or city hall)
Excursions with host families to local attractions
Two project days in schools of the Stuttgart region
Community evening

The central social program will be offered for all young people and their host families or young people and organisations under the leadership of the state capital Stuttgart.

Central activities

Apart from local events, the young people will participate in various, central activities in Stuttgart. These events will underline the scope and special character of an international meeting. The events are to represent cultural and sporting highlights for the adolescents. The success of these events is only possible with the support and the commitment of all those involved in the festival.

The following activities form the contents of the central social program:

Welcoming event
Sporting day in the Stuttgart region
Sightseeing tour with approx. 10 sights of the region
Discovering the nightlife in Stuttgart!
Involvement of young people in the official social program of the World Cup, e.g. Public Viewing at the Schlossplatz
Central, farewell festival in Höhenpark Killesberg

Tuesday 4.7.2006	12am to 5pm Sport unites! – “A time to make friends” Main sports day held at the Waldau in Stuttgart-Degerloch in cooperation with the Sportkreis Stuttgart Setting a world`s record for the Guinness book of World Records. Let`s wait and see! Selection training for the UNESCO World-Team for the friendly match on Friday 07 th July 2006 from 9pm Experience the World Cup together: Public broadcast of the 1st semi-final. Large screens on the Schloßplatz in Stuttgart .
Wednesday 5.7.2006 and Thursday 6.7.2006	8am to 1pm UNESCO Theme Days in Cooperation with Mondialogo: Cultural encounters in the schools Wednesday or Thursday Swabian culture with an international flair The communities welcome you – receptions in the hosts` town halls
Friday 7.7.2006	11am to 11pm Festival of Friends: Internationally diverse art and culture on and around the open-air theatre on the Höhenpark Killesberg
Saturday 8.7.2006	from 9pm Welcome to the Festival of Nations: Public broadcast of the third-place match at the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart from 10.30pm The cultural nightlife in Stuttgart : A central location in Stuttgart invites you to celebrate and linger together with international electronic music.
Sunday 9.7.2006	11am to 2pm „May the road bring us together“ International festival of peace at the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart from 8pm The World Cup final up-close: Public broadcast during the Festival of Nations at the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart in the evening They came here as guests and leave as friends Bidding farewell to the guest families
Monday 10.7.2006	Goodbyes at the train station and airport The young people of 2006 from all over the world begin their journeys back home
